Why the whole method is free.

Every check we run for paying clients is described, free, on this site. How to read a lift invoice. Which call-outs were already included. What “comprehensive” does not cover. The renewal window that must not pass unwatched. When the sinking fund should expect the lift. None of it is held back, and none of it is a teaser for a paid version with the real detail in it. It is the real detail.

That is an unusual way to run a consultancy, so here is the reasoning.

The method was never the product

Knowing an invoice should be read next to its contract is free information, and it always was. What clients pay for is the doing: every invoice, every month, without fail, for years, while they get on with running buildings. A secret method would be a fragile thing to sell. Hours, judgement and follow-through are not.

A reader who fixes it themselves is a good outcome

If a committee takes the invoice guide, finds a missed escalation cap and has it corrected politely, we earn nothing and the result is still the one we want: the building better run, the paperwork tidier for everyone, including the lift company. Enough of those and the industry we work in gets easier to work in.

Trust is earned before it is charged for

This is the honest, self-interested part. A manager whose building saved money from a free guide knows exactly what a paid engagement would be like, because they have already had a sample of it. We would rather be hired by someone who has tested us for free than sell to someone taking it on faith.

So take the method

It is yours, no email address required, starting with any guide on this site. If you have the time, the guides will carry you, and we mean that without a catch.

If you would rather it simply happened every month without you, that is the part we sell.

The part we sell
